For this project, our clients invited SPACE. to thoughtfully reimagine their City by the Sea vacation retreat. The home, leased through the Newport Restoration Foundation, came with important preservation constraints, requiring a design approach rooted in restraint, creativity, and respect for the property’s historic character.

Rather than altering the architecture, we focused on layering texture, proportion, and soft coastal tones to support how the space would be lived in and enjoyed. The result is a serene, light-filled home that feels both timeless and relaxed—where old-world details are balanced with modern coastal simplicity to create a sense of ease, continuity, and quiet elegance.
